I currently live in America, but I dream of moving to Ireland one day. The lifestyle here is so fast paced, everybody has something to do, somewhere to do, its like nobody takes a moment to take a deep breath, and smell the flowers. Not to mention the fact that America is so blame for a generous proportion of the global carbon emissions. Its suitable for some people, I just don’t fit in here much. I’d rather wake up, go out and work in the barn, and slow down for awhile…or permanently. So, I have a couple of questions…
1) What types of businesses would be most successful in Ireland?
2) Is property extremely expensive, or somewhat affordable? (Probably Galway, its beautiful there)
3) Is horse ownership common there? (I’ve been riding since I was 10, I have a passion for horses. In America, at least where I live, horse ownership is considered an activity for the ‘rich’)
4) Are ‘green’ (environmentally friendly) practices common in Ireland?
5) Anything else?

It is a well known fact that ozone depletion is potentially harmful for the earth and its inhabitants. Considering also that man-made technology like air conditioners releasing CFC’s, cars emitting carbon gas, refrigerants emitting O.D.C’s all helping that ozone hole get bigger, therefore would you change your lifestyle to be more environmentally-friendly by driving zero-emission cars, walking, taking the bus, reducing A.C. usage, etc.?

i was watching this bbc documentary on the ongoing “debate” between evolution and intelligent design. part of the documentary discussed the issue of why it’s so difficult (mathematically, nearly impossible) to recreate life. consider the following example. take a deck of 52 poker cards. shuffle the deck and lay them out one at a time from the top of the deck to bottom in a straight line face up. note the order of the cards. then, repeat the entire process until you come up with the exact same order. assume, the original order of the cards represents the factors that had to go in to creating life. while it is true, that you could spend your entire life trying to recreate the conditions, and still never achieve the original order of the deck of cards, it does not change the fact that the original order did occur. does it?
marooned… you’re missing the point. i realize all that… this information is for people who believe in intelligent design, and that life could not have just formed by chance.
no kenny, it wasn’t just one single cell.
mountainman, no, you’re assuming life has already occured.
we may be arguing the same point. i’m really not sure. the point of the argument is this, you can’t say that just the odds are nearly impossible to recreate the same situation that it never occurred in the first place. i.d.ers claim the opposite.
